About the Contest

Arts & Venues Denver and the Denver Architectural Foundation invite the public to focus on their favorite Denver Landmarks during the 4th annual Doors Open Denver Photography Contest. The Doors Open Denver Photography Contest gives you a chance to enter your original photographs in several categories - and to rate and comment on the entries. Entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges. "People's Choice" will be selected based on ratings by the public on the photo contest website. The deadline for new entries is April 30th and public voting will continue through May 6th.

Doors Open Denver is a free annual event that highlights our architecture and built environment by opening over 80 buildings to the public. The 2012 theme is DENVER LANDMARKS. This free event will take place April 14 - 15, 2012 from 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM each day. Check out the website for site descriptions and maps, self-guided and expert tour information and special activities.

This chapel was built by Colorado's first territorial governor in memory of his daughter Josephine.

I entered the chapel shortly after sunrise and the golden rays of morning light coming through the stained glass window really illuminated the room with a soft, peaceful glow so I knew this would make for a great interior shot.

I set my tripod up very low to the ground in order to capture the symmetrical metal lines of the pipe organ and still convey the artistry of the window that dominated one end of the building.
